Channing Tatum still can't find a Director for "Gambit" movie, talks how he loves character as a child

It's a pity thing to say that our "22 Jump Street" Jenko still can't find his director for his upcoming "X-Men" film, "Gambit."

Channing Tatum, who will produce and star his own Gambit film, shared on Empire Magazine on how he has loved the character, and how the upcoming movie will fit with the two other X-Men films that will be lining up in 2016.

"I love Gambit. I grew up in the South; my father's from Louisiana," the actor said. "We'd go to New Orleans and I heard all the dialects. It felt so different from the rest of America; it has its own ancient culture," he shared. "So I identified with that. And he always felt the most real of the X-Men to me. He's kind of a tortured soul and he's not a good guy. But he's not a bad guy, either."

Tatum also commented on the character being a complete utter badass.

Though, the problem remains on who will take the director's chair. If he couldn't find one soon the 2016 release date will surely by delayed.

According to CinemaBlend, both Bennett Miller, who directed Tatum in "Foxcatcher" and Darren Aronofsky, who was once asked to direct "The Wolverine", have said no. more so, both Gareth Evans of "The Raid" and J.C. Chandor, who wrote and directed "A Most Violent Year", have also shook their heads.

"RoboCop" screenwriter Josh Zetumer has already completed a draft of the script for his upcoming film. And it's a killer, as Tatum states.

Fox will celebrate 2016 with three X-Men movies: "Deadpool," starring Ryan Reynolds, followed by "X-Men: Apocalypse," which will feature series star Hugh Jackman. New cast members Sophie Turner, Ty Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp are also added. Tatum's "Gambit" will be on Oct. 7, 2016.

It was said that X-Men: Apocalypse will start the plot for Gambit, but that is yet to be confirmed.
