The forthcoming reboot of "Fantastic Four" is already nearing its August 7 release. Some of its fans may already be planning to review its previous films before Josh Trank's all-new version is going to hit the big screen. However, it looks like they are going to have a hard time looking for its online streaming form as Fox has pulled the two films from iTunes and Amazon.
Fox is releasing the reboot of the superhero film "Fantastic Four" which stars Miles Teller, Michael Jordan, Jamie Bell and Kate Mara this summer. As a part of its preparation, it has removed the first two films of the franchise, 2005's "Fantastic Four" and its 2007 sequel "Fantastic 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer", from digital availability.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the older titles have been pulled out in iTunes and Amazon to avoid distraction from the promotion of its all-new and all-different rebooted franchise. An insider claims that its first two films might bring confusion in the marketplace.
However, Cinema Blend says that the earlier titles may, and likely will, get its availability back after Josh Trank's version hits the silver screen this August. In the meantime, the older titles are only available in rental or purchase of as DVDs or Blu-rays via Netflix and Amazon. They can also be seen on AMC which according to AV Club will be airing both films this weekend.
The forthcoming reboot of "Fantastic Four" is said to feature something new, different and most importantly, separate from its original version. It is known that the older titles starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans as the titular team. This time, it has a new set of cast and a different tone, which is reported to be emphasizing the comic book feel of the story with a darker and grittier aesthetic.
With its promotional strategy, Fox is expecting that the rebooted "Fantastic Four" will outdo its previous versions. The new film opens August 7 this year.
