It looks like the fans of the Bellas are getting their wishes come true as the "Pitch Perfect" franchise is returning to the big screen for its third installment. Universal Pictures is reportedly already in early talks with franchise writer Kay Cannon for its part three. However, no word is out yet regarding lead stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, as well as director Elizabeth Bank's return.
With "Pitch Perfect 2" earning $250 million and counting at the worldwide box office, it already comes as no big surprise that Universal Pictures is considering to go for the film's part three. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kay Cannon who penned the first two movies is already in negotiations to reprise her duties in the forthcoming sequel. However, it is still unknown whether Elizabeth Banks will be returning to the director's chair.
LA Times says that a Universal Pictures spokesperson has confirmed the development of the third film but refused to disclose further information about the said negotiation. In any case, as the studio green lights the sequel, many are curious whether the elements of the first two films will be seen in the next one.
According to SMH, Hailee Steinfeld, the younger Bella in the second movie, is already signed for another film. However, there is no word yet whether Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, two iconic members of the Bellas, will be reprising their roles on the upcoming "Pitch Perfect 3" especially now that their characters already graduated in college.
Now that "Pitch Perfect 3" is on the horizon, some of its diehard fans are already excited to know how it will be structured. With the rest of the Bellas gone for a new chapter of their lives, it seems like Emily's a capella journey (Steinfeld) will be the most probable path its sequel will take.
What are your thoughts about a third "Pitch Perfect" film? Will it be as exciting as its original films or will it face the threat of franchise fatigue?
