Ridley Scott's The Martian will be shown in theatres on October instead of November. Matt Damon meanwhile proves that one could live in Mars, at least maybe for a few years.
RELEASE DATES INTERCHANGED
After some positive response from audiences since the official trailer of Ridley Scott's The Martian came out this week, the movie has been moved to an earlier date. Coming Soon reports that 20th Century Fox decided to change the showing from November 25 to October 2. The schedule for the said sci-fi film was swapped with Victor Frankenstein.
The Martian is based on Andy Weir's best-selling novel of the same title. The all-star cast includes Kristen Wiig, Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Jeff Daniels, Danny Glover, Michael Pena and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
PLOT
Comic Book says the story will revolve around Matt Damon who plays as astronaut Mark Watney who survives from a violent storm he and his crew meet. His companions, who left him behind planet Mars, does not know at first that Watney made it alive. Watney has no choice but to do his best to survive for four years by making shelter, planting crops and living with whatever is left with him while trying to contact his colleagues back on Earth. The crew then try to rescue Watney in a dangerous mission.
Whether there is really life on the Red Planet has been a long time debate. The movie seems to open up more discussion on the topic. Daily Mail quotes NASA as saying that Mars is a perfect place to build a greenhouse. The solar energy would be enough to provide sunlight to plants and its day and night cycle is similar to Earth's. Despite this, the author of the book where the movie was adapted says that there is no life in Mars.
For those interested to know what life is like in Mars, you won't need to wait for Thanksgiving Day in order to watch The Martian as it opens in theatres in October.
