Filming for the upcoming Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur has officially started. Director of the film, Guy Ritchie shared a picture of the first day of filming for the movie.

Actor Charlie Hunnam, who will play the lead role King Arthur has officially started filming for the Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur in Nant Gwynant near Beddgelert in Snowdonia. The actor, in character as King Arthur, was seen hurling the Excalibur sword into a lake. Also, Astrid Berges-Frisbey who will play the role of Guinevere was also in the scene wearing a red dress.

Director Guy Ritchie also shared a photo of the first day of filming in his twitter account. In the photo, Ritchie is standing next to Hunnam wearing his costume. However, the caption of the photo does not give any hint about the plot, as it reads, "First day on KORT."

As mentioned earlier, Charlie Hunnam will play King Arthur, Jude Law as Vortigern, Astrid Berges-Frisbey as Guinevere, and Eric Bana as Arthur's father Uther Pendragon. The cast also includes Aiden Gillen as Goosefat bill, and Djimon Hounsou as Arthur's mentor, Bedivere.

The film is reportedly about Arthur realizing his royalty through the Excalibur and using it to fight the tyrant Vortigern. "introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur-and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King." the film's synopsis read.

Knights of the Roundtable will soon hit theaters in July 2016.
