Just two weeks after the "Community" season finale aired, loyal supporters of the Dan Harmon series are asking if the hashtag #CommunityLivesOn suggests the continuation of the story of the beloved study group. Despite the speculations circulating online, Yahoo has not yet released any official announcement of a season 7.
"Community" concluded its 6-season run with the episode titled, "The Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television," which seemed to be an actual farewell to the fans from Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna, reports Variety.
Season 6's ultimate episode went meta with the study group trying to figure out what a "Community season 7" might look like. All of them threw pitches about their idea of a seventh season then later, Annie, Abed, and Elroy shared their future plans beyond Greendale.
As a "Community" tradition, the last episode left a room for some story but also felt like a series finale as well. However, just before the end credits, the hashtag #andamovie flashes, teasing fans that "Community" will live on.
Yahoo has not yet released any confirmation about "Community season 7" but it left a silver lining for the fans after the season 6 finale aired, as per Deadline's report.
"With the season six finale of "Community" airing today, we're continually excited by how much fans are engaging with the series. Now that all episodes are available for binge viewing, stay tuned for how we keep "Community" delighting its fans," Yahoo announced.
Joel McHale, Jeff Winger in the series, however, has some bad news for fans who are wishing for a series 7. The "Community" star told "Conan" that he doesn't think that they'll be pursuing a season 7. But the actor admits that he is ready to hit the big screen with his co-stars if Harmon writes a script.
As always, "Community"'s fate remains uncertain. Yahoo and Sony Pictures have yet to announce any project beyond season 6 but it is quite good news to know that Joel McHale is ready for Greendale to hit the theatres if creator Dan Harmon is up for it.
