'Game of Thrones' never ends without a bang. And the recently ended Season 5 boasted powerful scenes. In the final episode, Mother's Mercy, Jon Snow died at the hands of his own men, which shocked lots of fans. But the scene that really horrified viewers was Cersei Lannister's nude 'walk of shame'.
In 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 finale, Cersei is shorn and stripped naked, and forced to walk through the streets where she's pelted with 'shit and tomatoes and eggs' by a baying mob of bystanders.
Aside from being shocked, many fans were horrified and devastated by the scene of the villainous woman. 'Game of Thrones' fans were raged and took it on Twitter, reported by Express.
However, the 'Game of Thrones' showrunners were quick to address the controversial 'walk of shame'. In a report by Independent, showrunner David Benioff revealed that the scene's aim is to make viewers empathize with a character they've come to know as a villain. And, it supposed to be a nightmare for her Cersei.
The site also pointed out that Lena Headey used a body double for the scene in 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 finale in which she walks naked through the streets.
Speaking of Headey, who plays the abused Cersei, she revealed that the scene was totally humiliating. She said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the scene was emotionally traumatizing for her. Lena also felt for her character as she reached her lowest point. She added that even though her character done wrong, Cersei does not deserve a scene like that.
