Fans of Dead Island 2 will have to be more patient for the return of the zombie apocalypse video game as its release date has been pushed to next year. An interview of the people behind its development reveals that there are still a lot of improvements to be done and goals still haven't been reached by now. Thus, the initial plan to launch the Deep Silver title in spring 2015 will not push through. Nonetheless, avid gamers are not left empty-handed as more information on the game has been leaked.
In a news write-up about Dead Island 2, Isaac Ashdown, who is the senior programmer of Deep Silver teased the storyline of the game. He says in a Red Bull interview, "The trailer definitely matches the tone we're going for... It's a kind of light-hearted take on what would happen if a zombie apocalypse came to California, and all the people who stayed behind saw it as an opportunity for a new way of life."
One of the game aspects Ashdown intends to improve on would be the realistic vibe so fans can have a more intense experience. He continues with the interview, "When you looked at the first game and the tone of the trailer, and then at how people were playing it, there was a kind of disconnect."
The Senior Programmer explains that this issue is between what the players are doing and what Dead Island actually wants them to partake on. Therefore, it is imperative to work on the tone that it would really match and direct players how they should go about the game.
In terms of the delay of Dead Island 2's release date, the official Twitter account of the title explained in a post, "We wanted to have all of that done for release in Spring 2015... We have decided we didn't reach that goal... We have decided to delay Dead Island 2 to 2016."
With this in mind, fans of Deep Silver's franchise should understand that this will be a worthwhile wait as the Dead Island 2 team is working really hard to make the game as polished as can be. Stay tuned for more updates every now and then.
