Robert Pattinson and FKA twigs have officially announced their engagement. The couple, while faced with much backlash from people on social media, are quick to defend their relationship, saying that they both have an "amazing relationship."
In a recent interview with Complex magazine, British singer FKA twigs opened up about her relationship with the 'Twlight' actor. FKA twigs admitted that she and Pattinson were together for a time, but both kept their relationship under wraps because many fans of the Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart relationship were still hoping for a reunion.
"It's fine, I'm a pretty chill person, do you know what I mean?" said the singer, speaking of T-Pain's accidental announcement of her engagement to Pattinson.
FKA twigs was also the subject of many racist remarks, particularly coming from many of Robert and Kristen's fans on Twitter. Many of the hate remarks targeted FKA twigs as a "gold-digger" and many made fun of her looks. FKA twigs was rather daunted at first, reading all the tweets coming from the fans of Robert Pattinson. She even mentioned that there are days when she would doubt her career choice.
"I wouldn't say I'm completely numb to it now, but there's definitely a numbness there," said FKA twigs. "But ultimately, I'm in an amazing relationship. So it doesn't matter," she said.
The Twilight actor and the British singer have also put any rumors about Robert's family interfering with the relationship. Gossip Cop confirmed that Robert's family loves FKA twigs and that they only wish for his happiness. While both have yet to set a wedding date, many have already speculated that the wedding will be in the summer. Another question many people have in mind is whether or not Stewart will be invited to the wedding.
Stewart and Pattinson dated during the duration of the Twilight series, but had a rather nasty falling out when Stewart was caught kissing her director for Snow White and the Huntsman, Rupert Sanders. While the two have tried to reconcile, things didn't work out.
Kristen was also at the receiving end of many hate comments, so she decided to keep her relationship status under wraps. These days, Stewart has found love with her personal assisitant, Alicia Cargile.
"I'm very sad that Kristen and Robert didn't have a chance to be alone together, they had to have the whole world with them and all the public stuff ruined everything, life became overwhelming." said Kristen's mother, Jules Stewart
