Katherine Waterston has just joined the stellar cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The 'Inherent Vice' actress will be joining Eddie Redmayne in the first installment of the series, which is planned out to be a trilogy.

According to a report with Variety, Katherine Waterston has landed the pivotal role of Tina, short for Porpentina, one of the two female leads in the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off. The report says that Tina works her magic in the U.S. She would later meet magizoologist Newt Scamander, played by Redmayne during his visit to New York City on his travels to document and find magical creatures.

Warner Bros. Studio is said to be looking for more "established actors" to be cast into the film, unlike the "Harry Potter" predecessors which was mostly composed of newcomers.

"Katherine Waterston is a rising star, who was a revelation in our film 'Inherent Vice,' earning the praise of both critics and audiences. We are thrilled to have her back in the Warner Bros. family, especially in one of our most anticipated titles for 2016, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,'" said Greg Silverman of Warner Bros. Studio.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be set mostly in New York City, roughly seven decades before the Harry Potter saga began. The spin-off is a switch from the Harry Potter series, which were mostly set in London and other parts of England.

"Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the 'Harry Potter' series but an extension of the wizarding world," said JK Rowling.

Waterston will next star alongside Michael Fassbender in the upcoming biopic drama, "Steve Jobs" where she will be playing Chrisann Brennan, Job's girlfriend. Waterston starred in HBO's Boardwalk Empire, but it was Inherent Vice that shot her to stardom.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been given a release date of Nov. 18, 2016.
