Sometimes even experience fail, Dance Mom Season 5's latest debacle between two power-dancing sisters showed just that. And with a bite.
Madison Nicole Ziegler who everyone fondly calls as Maddie may have starred in two of Sia's recent music videos but even that added exposure did not fare well against the dancing prowess of her younger sister, Mackenzie.
Yes, it was a battle of the Ziegler sisters that was the central focus of episode 23 of Dance Moms. Certainly, it was made the episode all the more worth-watching as it was the first time in years since the two dance-centric siblings were up against each other.
As confirmed by a synopsis: "Maddie and Mackenzie are competing with solos against each other in the same age category." Quite understandably, of the two, many would put their bets on Maddie as apparently the 12 year old is simply more experience.
To note, Maddie's track record is pretty impressive at this point in time as she has starred in several award-winning music videos and has seen an audience at the recent 2015 Grammys. Still it was no easy fight for the elder sister who danced for Sia in "Chandelier" reportedly, coach Abby Lee Miller gave a her a tap solo - not her usual routine.
Mackenzie for her part went the jazz/acro solo way. And capitalized heavily on it.
It definitely was no walk in the park for Maddie as she could be facing extra pressure as a new Sia video is to premier this week. Melissa Gisoni, mother to both competitors, confirmed that "her video debuted last night."
Already, Sia's video "Big Girls Cry" is gathering flak as another dance mom Kira Girard commented on it saying: "Everybody kept saying how boring it was." Ouch!
Well, it seemed the video really wreaked havoc on Maddie. Even with the help of coach Abby's unsolicited support as epitomized by her putting on her very own weave on Maddie's head right before the bright, young girl competed on stage, the most coveted first place went to Mackenzie.
Still no matter the outcome, Dance Moms Season 5 Episode 23's a feast.
