And to excite the fans even more, executive producer Alexi Hawley says they will highlight Kate and Richard's relationship next season.
With how the things ended in the season 7 finale, it is safe to say that "Castle" season 8 is the time to really shake things up. And shake things up they did as ABC found new showrunner for the succeeding seasons of their hit crime drama. Writer Paul Winter has filled the shoes of David Amann who stepped down from his position, reports Deadline. He will be joining Alexi Hawley as the new bosses of the show.
The new showrunners are planning to emphasize that one angle that really made the fans stick to the show: Kate and Richard's relationship. To tease the diehards, Hawley said that the couple's relationship will be "very much at the center of the show" next season.
Stana Katic's Kate Beckett will also be under the spotlight next season as she is now in a crossroads when she was offered to run for the New York State Senate after learning that she had just passed the Captain's exam.
Reports have circulated online that she will indeed become the new Captain of the 12th precinct with the sudden exit of Penny Johnson Jerald who plays Victoria Gates on the show.
Kate Beckett is indeed the top candidate for the position but she would also make a good Senator as proven by the "audition" secretly given to her by the panel during season 7's ultimate episode, reports Fashion & Style.
A lot of things are in store for the fans in the new season of "Castle." Aside from Richard and Kate's romantic relationship taking the center stage, Stana Katic's character will also be highlighted as she choose between being a Senator or being a Captain.
