It looks like seeing Dr. Henry Walton Jones' return in the big screen will take much longer than expected as Disney is reportedly setting a 2018 release for "Indiana Jones 5". What makes it more upsetting for the fans that are eagerly waiting for any updates is that no discussions yet are made regarding the forthcoming movie -not even Chris Pratt's inclusion in the sequel.
Following the box-office success of his latest film "Jurassic World", Chris Pratt is now reportedly set to replace Harisson Ford as the new face of the "Indiana Jones" franchise. According to Slash Film, Disney who acquired the rights of the franchise from Lucasfilm is eyeing the 35-year-old actor to be the next Dr. Henry Walton Jones.
However, "Jurassic World" and "Indiana Jones" producer Frank Marshall said that there have been no discussions made yet about the sequel -not even Chris Pratt's involvement. "We've had no discussions on Indy 5 to date," Marshall revealed.
Ain't It Cool News reports otherwise though, claiming that Lucasfilm has already scheduled a fall 2018 release date for "Indiana Jones 5". It is predicted that maybe Marshall was referring to Chris Pratt's involvement to the equation when he said "no discussions". After all, the blockbuster star is locked down with Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy"and a few Jurassic movies. With Sony's green light for his sci-fi film "Passengers" with Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Farris' husband has surely a lot in his plate coming up.
Though "Indy 5" is really likely to happen, it seems like it will not be anytime soon. According to Cinema Blend, Kathleen Kennedy has recently stated that no one is working on the script yet. Perhaps, it is because Lucasfilm is currently busy launching a new set of "Star Wars" movies. Despite this, it is safe to assume that the studio will eventually make a move with the rumored "Indiana Jones 5" soon considering the Indy franchise's success.
