The highly anticipated Marvel Films, "Avengers: Infinity Wars Part I and II" which were recently reported to be filmed back-to-back have finally found its perfect directors -the Russo brothers. With both 9 months of production period, "Avengers", "Infinity War Part 1" is slated to hit the cinemas May 4, 2018 while the second part will premiere May 3, 2019.
After helming the first two films of the billion dollar "Avengers" franchise, it looks like Joss Whedon is already passing the directorial baton for its final two-part installment to the hands of other filmmakers. The movie's IMDB page has recently replaced Whedon's name as the director of "Avengers: Infinity Wars" with Anthony and Joe Russo's.
The Russo brothers are known for their directorial duties in Marvel's "Captain America" franchise. According to Crossmap, there is still no news regarding who the writer of the forthcoming film will be but the new directors are reported to approach "Captain America: Civil Wars" writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for the position.
It was noted by The Wrap that the pair just recently signed a three-year first-look deal with Sony which some are speculating to be extended at some point. Other than the two-part final installment of "Avengers", the Russos are also slated to helm an untitled film in the "Ghostbusters" universe which will reportedly star "Magic Mike" actor and producer, Channing Tatum.
Both filmmakers started directing comedy back in 2003 with "Arrested Development" and proceeded with "Happy Endings" and "Up All Night" in 2011 and 2012. They were also noted for their good work as directors and executive producers of "Community" which opened the directorial doors for Marvel's "Captain America: Winter Soldier".
The Russos are currently continuing the preproduction process of "Captain America: Civil Wars" which will premiere May 6, next year.
As for the final installments of "Avengers", "Infinity War Part 1" is slated to hit the cinemas May 4, 2018 while the second part will premiere May 3, 2019.
