Lots of surprises and plenty of back stories--this was how actor Jason Momoa described the upcoming stand alone DC comics-adapted movie "Aquaman" where he plays the superhero himself. Momoa may also appear first in "Suicide Squad" which will be composed of different superheroes in the DC world.
Speaking to Youth Health, James Momoa said that the whole Aquaman mythology was incredible. Although the character has not been given much attention in the past, the King of Atlantis will be given a big break in the upcoming film. There will be a lot of backstories and revelations.
Daily Times Gazette says that Aquaman, the King of the Seven Seas, will play a more brutal take of his character in the DC comics. He will be a reluctant leader of the Atlantis.
Meanwhile, James Wan has been confirmed to direct "Aquaman". The "Fast and Furious" director has recently signed a contract with Warner Brothers for the said movie. Greg Silverman, President of creative development and worldwide production for Warner Bros. was quoted as saying that the company is happy to work again with Wan citing his creative and unique approach in films. Wan was also behind the horror film "The Conjuring" and the up and coming "The Conjuring 2".
Before "Aquaman" is shown, the character will also be seen in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". However, there are also reports that Aquaman may also appear in "Suicide Squad" although this remains to be confirmed. We Got This Covered quotes another source as saying that while Aquaman will be seen in a footage while being captured in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", the former superhero will also make a cameo in "Suicide Squad" where he is held as prisoner by Amanda Waller. Waller, to be portrayed by Viola Davis, will study and experiment on Aquaman after he fought and caught a mutated shark which was also imprisoned.
The underwater world of "Aquaman" will be made known to the whole world in 2018 yet.
