Terry Speaks, one of the alleged murderers of Jaren Lockhart, is believed to use codes with his girlfriend as they talk about the killing. Speaks' fellow inmate shared the he confessed about the murder of the Bourbon Street dancer.
According to New Orleans Advocate, the jurors for the Terry Speaks murder trial listened to a recording of phone calls between Speaks and his girlfriend, Margaret Sanchez. Sanchez is believed to be an accomplice in the killing. In the phone call, it will be heard that Speaks was furious and threatened Sanchez that he will expose her considering that he is still holding on to some incriminating items while they did their 'spring cleaning'. They also talked about 'parvo', a disease which others think is a term for the night of the killing. Speaks wrath was brought about by infidelity issues as he thinks Sanchez is cheating on him.
Another witness testified that Speaks confessed that they have murdered Lockhart. WAFB shared that inmate Christian Delrosario revealed to the jurors that Speaks gave multiple versions of the murder. Speaks told Delrosario that after killing Lockhart, they have put her body in a bathtub. The dismembering was made there as well. Delrosario detailed the story even more saying that Speaks cut off the head first, followed by the limbs. But this statement was changed, according to Delrosario, when the police visited Speaks. He now blames Sanchez for the entire thing.
Last Wednesday, the jurors were able to see the dismembered body parts of Lockhart and they were not able to control their emotions. Most of them became teary eyed seeing the body.
As Sun Herald reported, Speaks represented himself in the first 2 days of the trial. If he is found guilty of murder, he will face life imprisonment. Meanwhile, an FBI investigator has shared that the evidence which were found in Sanchez car could not be linked to the killing of Lockhart.
Deliberations are expected to be made within this week.
