Tekken X Street Fighter is delayed to an indefinite period of time as Bandai Namco has a lot on its plate, and with fighting games being too saturated in the market. While many fans are looking forward to the crossover between the characters from the said developer as well as from Capcom, it is currently not being put on top priority. With barely any updates being announced, only the latest news and what is known so far about the said game will be rounded up.
The good news is that Tekken X Street Fighter is still undergoing continuous development, as was reported on this news site a few months back. However, there has been very little follow up as Bandai Namco focuses on delivering Tekken 7 to gamers, with the many characters being created. While it is rumoured that the game would release by 2016, an official word would certainly be more reliable.
As reported on Gematsu, Tekken X Street Fighter has about 40 people working on it. This was explained by Katsuhiro Harada, the director of the Tekken series. He says, "It's very difficult to talk about... Obviously, I had originally planned to release it much earlier than we're currently looking at."
It should be noted that there are no problems in terms of the development of the crossover. Rather, it is the traffic in fighting games in the market that is making the placing of the title's priority and eventual release less than a practical move. Harada noted, "Tekken 7 will be our big thing for the next while."
Tekken X Street Fighter is facing an uncertain road, although it continues to be a work in progress. The series director of Tekken denied any commitment of bringing the game within the next couple of years, although its appearance might be intended as a surprise to fans.
