Xbox Two Latest Update: Release Date set in 2023? Next-Gen Console to Integrate with Hololens, Microsoft CEO

By

Will the Xbox Two gaming console be worth the wait? Devoid of any official announcement form the Washington-based tech giant, speculations are rife the much-awaited gaming device will arrive 2023, exactly 10 long years from the last iteration of the Xbox family, Xbox One was released. Or will it just be a disposed plan eventually?

Meanwhile, fresh from the recent initial showing of Windows 10, CEO Satya Nadella is detailing how gaming will play a central role in the company's future. And the key word is integration. That could certainly mean HoloLens would be an integral part of the Xbox gaming experience.

In a recent interview, Jon Hicks, former editor of Official Xbox Magazine let the cat out the bag, detailing how Xbox Two could be years away.

"I would think so, but the timing may change. Microsoft was very clear at the announcement of Xbox One that it would have a ten-year lifespan, and that is likely to remain the case, but the shift from Xbox 360 and PS3 to next-gen hasn't mirrored the shift from the previous generation."

Of course, some pundits are a little bit more optimistic. Devinder Kumar, the Senior VP and Chief Financial Officer of AMD said that the countdown until the release of the next-generation consoles will be shorter. AMD is the supplier of the Jaguar CPU being used in the Xbox One

To note, the first Xbox 360 lasted for several years before the next gen Xbox One was launched. It was in 2013 that One was launched. A little math should make the next Xbox iteration launching at 2023.

But we may not be seeing the same concept of gaming consoles that we are seeing now. VR (Virtual Reality) or more specifically Augmented Reality could be the next wave of gaming as signified by recent explorations with Oculus Rift and Microsoft's HoloLens.

No less than Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed it in his new mission statement to employees. The top honcho proclaimed:

"We will pursue our gaming ambition as part of this broader vision for Windows and increase its appeal to consumers."

Additionally he said: "We will bring together Xbox Live and our first-party gaming efforts across PC, console, mobile and new categories like HoloLens into one integrated play."

Wow! That should make the prospects of Xbox Two more exciting.
