The newly released installment of EL James' sadomasochistic saga "Fifty Shades" has smashed UK sales records. Written in the perspective of Jamie Dornan's character in the film, "Grey" sold more than 1 million copies in the United States and 647,000 plus in the United Kingdom, in only three days after its Thursday release. The British author also revealed that she has written a new book and is already onto another romance.
According to The Guardian, EL James' newest installment "Grey" retells the story of the first novel in the erotic-romantic saga about the complicated affair between the mysterious tycoon, Christian Grey, and love interest Anastasia Steele. But as what the title's says, this time, it is told from the point of view of the titular character -something the author mentioned in the dedication that fans had "asked ... and asked ... and asked ... and asked" for.
Released on Thursday, June 18, the new book has sold 1.1 million copies in America, across all editions - from paperback to ebook, and even audiobook. While in UK, "Grey" has earned a total of 647,401 copies sold, with 385,972 physical copies and 261,429 ebooks sales. As per Belfast Telegraph's report, the book has outdone previous UK record holder, "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown, which sold fewer than 550,000 copies in five days after its October 2009 release.
Following this record-breaking release, James has revealed that more "Fifty Shades" are currently on the works. Mirror reports that the British Author has written two more romantic pieces, and is actually half way through finishing the second one. "I've written a new book and am halfway through another. Both romances. Not sure when I will finish them. :)," the 52-year-old writer tweeted on Monday, when a fan asked her whether she would continue writing.
No further details about the upcoming novels were disclosed though. But James is surely hoping to outdo the success of her Fifty Shades saga.
The big screen adaptation of her first book "Fifty Shades of Grey" was noted to have premiered this year's Valentines month. Its upcoming sequel,"Fifty Shades Darker" on the other hand, is slated to be rolled out in public in February 10, 2017, with Dornan reprising his role as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.
