Despite Marvel's secrecy, head honcho Kevin Feige never shies away from teasing and unveiling a few things when promoting a new film. Recently, the super-producer has revealed some details about the intriguing character of 'The Ancient One' and other 'mind-bending' weirdness the upcoming movie "Doctor Strange" has in store when it opens on November, next year.
In an interview with Devin Faraci of Birth Movies Death, Marvel's Kevin Feige has revealed that they are planning to envelope the Sorcerer Supreme's solo flick, "Doctor Strange", with a whole new level of weirdness; and apparently, Ant-Man will be helping them to set that desired stage in the forthcoming movie.
"We send Ant-Man on a very weird, mind-bending journey at the end of Ant-Man", Feige teased, according to Blastr. "It was something we hadn't seen in a shrinking movie before, but it also represents the tip of the mind-bending weirdness we're going to do in Strange, which I think will surprise people."
Though he didn't give a word as to what exactly Marvel will be doing with Strange, he clarified a few details. As per Uproxx's report, Feige has mentioned that the titular character's home, Sanctum Santorum, will still be on modern-day Bleecker Street and that Stephen Strange will be "the strangest thing walking out onto that street".
Though he did not confirm Tilda Swinton's rumored casting, the 42-year-old producer has revealed some details about the intriguing role of "the Ancient One" who gives Strange his powers. "As we were developing this film we looked at The Ancient One as a mantle more than a specific person," he said.
According to him, the sorcerers have been around for millennia, protecting regular people from things they didn't know about. "There have been multiple [Ancient Ones], even if this one has been around for five hundred years, there were others. This is a mantle, and therefore felt we had leeway to cast in interesting ways," he added.
Meanwhile, "Doctor Strange" is penned by Thomas Dean Donelly and Joshua Openheimer ("Sahara", "Conan the Barbarian", and Jon Spaihts ("Prometheus"). Scott Derickson will helm the movie, with Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock", "The Imitation Game") as the titular character.
Marvel's "Doctor Strange" is slated to hit the big screen November 4, 2016.
