Marvel's upcoming reboot of "Spider-Man" has indeed a lot of new stuff in store for its fans. Apart from the new face of the superhero, Kevin Feige has recently revealed that the upcoming film will also be featuring a new supervillain, as well as a John Hughes vibe. The upcoming reboot of Peter Parker's story in the Spidey suit is scheduled for a July 2017 release.
In an interview with Birth Movie Death, Marvel films' head honcho Kevin Feige has unveiled that the Big Bad in the film may be someone the franchise's fans are not familiar at the moment. "That's the advantage," he said of the "deep bench" of villains. "Right now we're interested in seeing villains we haven't seen before."
This signifies that the rumor about the A-list actor, Matthew McConaughey, playing the role of the franchise's most iconic villain, Green Goblin, may not be featured after all. Screen Crush predicts that the film might possibly introduce other "Spider-Man" villains like Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter, Vulture, Scorpion or Alistair Smythe.
Beyond Spidey's new archnemesis, Feige has also cited that the reboot will have influences from the teen movie king, John Hughes. According to Comic Book, he stated that the Tom Holland-starrer flick will have some high school drama in it. "It's the soap opera in high school, and those supporting characters, that are interesting," Feige said. "Just as we hadn't seen a heist movie in a long time, or a shrinking movie in a long time, we haven't seen a John Hughes movie in a long time."
Feige has highlighted that Hughe's influence in the reboot of "Spider-Man" is what makes the movie more exciting as it is something the superhero genre has not featured in a while.
Meanwhile, Marvel's upcoming reboot of "Spider-Man" will be helmed by Sundance director Jon Watts. Introducing Tom Holland as the new Peter Parker, the superhero flick is slated to hit the big screen July 28, 2017.
