2K Games has officially announced that WWE 2K16 being the title to feature the largest roster in the history of game series will include more than 120 unique Wrestling superstars and divas but this number could possibly reach over 150 via a game expansion.
Attack of the Fanboy reports that the WWE 2K16 roster could get approximately to an insane 150 characters through a DLC where new wrestlers in WWE or NXT will be introduced into the title in the succeeding months.
On its official WWE2K Twitter page, the game developer posted:
"Just so we're clear, the 120+ unique Superstar/Diva models we mentioned last week are all shipping with the game. #WWE2k16LargestRosterEver"
In comparision, predecessor games had typically just around 90 to 100 wrestlers with DLCs accounted for while WWE 2K16 has 120 wrestlers shipped upon the game's official service launching, hence, it's a huge leap overall for the new title.
Apparently, this number will rise depending on the number of wrestlers who will be added such as Samoa Joe who joined mid-2015. He is expected to become part of the roster in the form of an expansion pack or game update since 2K Games has the final playable list for each game following WrestleMania in April.
In earlier reports, 2K has already unveiled the names of six wrestlers who will be seen in the new game. These are: Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Bad News Barrett, Paige and Finn Balor.
Although, the likes of NXT Divas Sasha Banks and Rosa Mendes as well as superstars Rusev and Zack Ryder have all personally revealed their participation in the next entry to the WWE franchise on social media.
On a Reddit thread is the list of fan favourite wrestlers who could possibly join the massive WWE 2K16 roster, namely: CM Punk, Heath Slater, Mysterio, Alberto del Rio, Shawn Michaels, Mascarita Dorada, Hornswoggle, Samoa Joe, Yokozuna, Tatanka, Aldo Montoya, Zack Ryder, Terry Funk and Owen Hart.
WWE 2K16 is officially confirmed to release October 27 for PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 while PC version is expected to arrive at some future time. Stay tuned for more exciting details to be announced shortly.
