UFC 189: Chad Mendes vs. Conor McGregor; Aldo Cant Fight Due To Broken Rib, McGregor Thinks He Could Rather Dismantle Mayweather In A Fight?

By

The fight between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo in the upcoming UFC 189 has been called off. It was reported that Aldo has suffered a broken rib during training and is unable to fight and will be replaced by UFC # 1 ranked Chad Mendes for the July 11 event. In a TV interview Mcgregor was asked if what would happen if he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. and he responded that he "would most certainly dismantle Floyd."

In a discussion of the UFC 189 in MMAJunkie with Ben Fowlkes and Danny Downes shared a few detailed facts and what they thought about featherweight champion Jose Aldo's pulling out due to rib injury. Apparently there was a lot of misinformation that created hype on Jose Aldo's condition making him look like he was "faking" it.

Aldo went to his personal doctor in Brazil and was told that he had a broken rib. UFC executives released an official statement that the champ "suffered a bone bruise to his rib and cartilage injury during training" after they had their own doctors reviewed the scans. Undaunted by the official statement released by the UFC, Jose Aldo acquired the services of a former NFL doctor to look at his MRI. The doctor declared that Aldo's rib was indeed broken. This was to prove the Champ's point of his current health and to shut down haters.

McGregor is surely disappointed with the outcome as he has been itching to get his hands on the UFC featherweight belt. As a result of Aldo's injury, the UFC chose Chad Mendes to fight Conor Mcgregor. Instead of a championship fight it is now an interim UFC featherweight title fight as reported by Fansided. The sudden change may not what the fans wanted but Chad Mendes has something personal against McGregor as well.

It was noted in the past that McGregor had verbal exchanges with Mendes which was aired on television. Conor joked about Chad's height and told him about resting "things" on Chad's forehead. Chad Mendes is particularly not at all fond of McGregor's promotional antics. However, Chad Mendez is very confident that he will beat the Irishman. As for McGregor, his mental state when it comes to fighting is that anyone who steps into the cage with him will break and crumble. "Mendez is no different" as he was quoted saying in a talk show on TBS.

On a rather different light, a video posted in Wrestling Inc shows Conan O' Brien asking Mcgregor what would he think if he would want to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. The video shows McGregor thinking of the possibility of stepping into Floyd's world should the opportunity present itself. He ended it with "if we were to get it on, I would most certainly dismantle him (Mayweather Jr.) also"

UFC 189's main fight will not go down as everyone anticipated it to be as Jose Aldo has to recover from a broken rib. As Chad Mendez will replace Aldo, Mendez will surely be in for a fight of his life on July 11. Meanwhile while waiting for fight night, McGregor has been creating waves for boxing fans as he was told a TV host that he will destroy Mayweather Jr. should they step into the ring together.
