Rey's parentage is one of the most intriguing and anticipated things to look forward to when "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" opens in cinemas this Christmas. Amidst all the debates about who her parents are, a new speculation suggests that she is neither related to Luke Skywalker or Han Solo.
As previously reported, Daisy Ridley, who plays the role of Rey in the upcoming seventh installment of the epic sci-fi series "Star Wars", have indirectly teased something about her character. In an interview in Japan, it was noted that she described Rey to be "solitary" which according to her, is "a big clue as to what it is". This response has garnered a lot of speculations with regards to who her father is.
Jason Ward of Making Star Wars is theorizing that the clue given by the actress points out to the Millenium Falcon captain, Han Solo whose name is somewhat a synonym to "solitary". However, Christopher Thiry, another commentator, predicts that Rey's father is Luke Skywalker as he is said to be solitary as well when he was first introduced in the franchise.
While all these theories might make sense, Making Star Wars has coaxed information from their trusted sources, claiming Rey is not an original trilogy offspring. "None of the heroes...the kids...are Solos or Skywalkers. She's [Rey] not a Solo," the insider said. "It would knock me on my knees to learn she is a Solo. VII does not answer that question. It just presents it."
According to the source, nothing has been seen "yet" which concludes that she is the daughter of either of the two. Evidently, this long-running rumors and debates about Rey's identity can only be confirmed when "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters on December 18.
The film is helmed by J.J. Abrams and stars Ridley, Adam Driver ("While We're Young", "Hungry Hearts"), Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years a Slave", "Non-Stop"), Gwendoline Christie ("Game of Thrones"), Oscar Isaac ("Ex Machina", "A Most Violent Year"), Harrison Ford ("Age of Adeline", "Ender's Game"), Carrie Fisher("Wishful Thinking", "Fanboys"), Andy Serkis ("The Hobbit", "Rise of the Planet Apes"), and Peter Mayhew.
