'Modern Family' competes against ‘Silicon Valley’ and ‘Veep’ For The Emmy Award; Show Contributes To Public's Opinion Over Gay Rights

"Modern Family" is expected to win big this coming Emmys as predictions for the awards show are already being brought in. However, the show should watch out for the awards as these can be nabbed by other shows such as "Silicon Valley" and "Veep."

In a report by Gold Derby, Andrew Pierce, one of the predictors in forecasting Emmy wins and nominations, said in a statement to the publication, "I really do think that "Modern Family" is going to win yet again... but I actually think there are three shows that could win." The nominees for the Emmy Awards will be released this July 16.

He continued to talk about why "Veep" and "Silicon Valley" are serious threats. He pointed out that "Veep" has been gaining increased nomination total so it turns out to become popular season after season. Pierce compared it to the Netflix original series "House Of Cards" as both shows have political factors that people are into. The political factor is something that "Modern Family" has not ventured into and might not touch anytime soon.

Pierce also talked about "Silicon Valley" and told the publication that it is funny and thrilling. He continued to say that he loves "Modern Family" but the thing is, it might be time to move on as many quality programs are competing with the hit comedy show.

Meanwhile, Here & Now reported that "Modern Family" is affecting and changing the public's opinion regarding gay rights. TV critic Eric Deggans pointed out that the show and Hollywood in general is the "great humanizer" as the public begins to see the characters in T.V. shows as real people. The report came a week after the Supreme Court decided that gay marriage is allowed all over the United States.

"Modern Family" already won five Emmys and the ABC show will be premiering its seventh season this September on ABC.
