World War Z 2 Confirmed for Release in 2017; Brad Pitt Comes Back as Gerry Lane, new director named

Hungry zombies will haunt and threaten the human race once again as World War Z 2 has officially been confirmed to happen, and has been given an official release date. Although details about the cast are still pretty scarce, Brad Pitt has been revealed to be back to take on the lead role.

With the reports of filming delays and reshoots for the first film, not to mention the doubts and negativity around, many have thought that a sequel to the movie World War Z is highly unlikely. However, everything changed when the movie became a worldwide box office hit, grossing $540 million worldwide when it reached theaters in 2013.

Several years after the first film's release, the green light has been given for its sequel, and in fact, it recently acquired a 2017 release date. Aside from that, most recent updates about the film suggest that actor Brad Pitt who played the role of Gerry Lane in the first film, will be back for the lead role.

Director Juan Antonio Bayona, whose previous work includes "The Impossible" and "The Orphanage", has been chosen to helm the film, while Steven Knight is writing the film's script. Details about the list of cast and crew are pretty scarce as of now, given that the movie is still considerably far from its release date.
