The human race will once again fight against the impending threat of extinction in Independence Day: Resurgence. New teasers have been released in the movie's as well as in the cast and crew's social media accounts.
After the events in 1996 film, humans have learned to utilize the alien technology that once threatened to kill them. Now that the threat is back, they will try to use their technology against the more advanced and intricate aliens.
"We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring the world back from extinction," the movie's official synopsis reads.
Actor Jeff Goldbums who plays the role of David Levinson in the film has recently posted a teaser in his recently created Facebook account. The actor posted a 12-second video of what seems to be interrupted communication lines blurring the words "WE'RE FIGHTING FOR OUR RIGHT TO LIVE, TO EXIST."
"We thought we wiped them out. The Resurgence is here. #IDR" is how Goldblum captioned the short teaser.
In his first post, he also shared a set photo of him in front of an aircraft while his co-actor Liam Hemsworth photobombed at the back. Goldblum captioned the photo saying: "So there I was thinking about how I would save mankind when this guy photobombs me. Oh, why hello Facebook, nice to finally meet you. #IDR "
Aside from Goldblum, director Roland Emmerich and the movie's official Twitter account posted different teasers for the movie. Like the one Goldblum posted, the teasers released also feature famous lines from the first film blurred by what seems to be communication lines being interrupted.
More teasers and trailers are expected to be revealed in the coming months as Independence Day: Resurgence nears its scheduled release.
The movie's cast include original cast members Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, Judd Hirsch, Jeff Goldblum, and Vivica A.
