Last week's Comic Con in San Diego was a venue for big reveals. The upcoming LEGO videogame, LEGO: Dimensions celebrates Doctor Who as the newest addition to the all-star cast that includes Gandalf, Scooby Doo, and Batman. The twelfth good Doctor Peter Capaldi lends his voice for the role.
Den of Geek attends the preview event for LEGO: Dimensions at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego at the eve of Comic Con, which unveils that the good Doctor Who will be joining the LEGO universe cast of Gandalf, Batman, Scooby Doo, and many more, along with his assistant Clara and the TARDIS. The current Doctor Who series is at its twelfth Doctor, and Peter Capaldi who plays the time travelling Doctor will be lending his voice for the LEGO universe. Doctor Who co-star Jenna Coleman will also be lending her voice as the Doctor's assistant Clara, as well as Michelle Gomez and her character Missy.
Peter Capaldi will be the sole Doctor to fully record new dialogue for the upcoming LEGO videogame, but audio from all the previous Doctors will also be lifted from the TV show and featured in the game, reports Gamespot. Capaldi admits that he is far from a gamer, but are highly appreciative of the turn in which videogames shape pop culture today. According to Capaldi, the the cross-pollination of pop culture within different media like videogames are positive, especially if it is done with utmost quality and authenticity.
"The demands and the ambition that the game makers have imposed upon themselves are very high; they've given themselves the task of creating something that's very entertaining, very exciting, and dramatic".
Techno Buffalo gives a quick rundown of what's in store for the toys-to-life action/adventure game LEGO: Dimensions with the addition of the good Doctor. All twelve Doctors will be playable in the game, cycling from the first Doctor up to Peter Capaldi's twelfth. While the Doctors change, as will the TARDIS, changing for the Doctor as the Doctor is reincarnated. There will also be a built-in jukebox in the TARDIS that allows players to select their preferred version of the Doctor's theme music. Players will also encounter Doctor Who characters such as Daleks, Cybermen, and the Doctor's robot pet, K-9.
LEGO: Dimensions is published and distributed by Warner Bros Interactive and is scheduled for release on September 27 for PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
