There's still a long way to go before the debut of Fast & Furious 8 on the big screen. Specifics remain tightly under wraps but the latest Hollywood buzz suggested new casting developments bound to whet appetites of fans. It is said that Eva Mendes will reprise her role as special agent Monica Fuentes. Other strong female leads will be joining her as well.
Remember Monica Fuentes from 2 Fast 2 Furious and Fast Five? According to We Got This Covered, an anonymous source close to the movie's production revealed Fuentes' importance in the new plot. This lead to the conclusion that Mendes will definitely be back. Michelle Rodriguez is rumored to be returning as well. Rodriguez is another staple actress in the franchise and appeared in the recent Furious 7.
Orange is the New Black's sizzling hot newcomer 21-year-old Ruby Rose also confirmed to the Today Show that she held talks with the creative team of the film franchise, as reported by the Inquisitr. She mentioned, "My last audition before Orange was for Fast And Furious 7... But they didn't want me because one of the main guys said I looked like Justin Bieber!"
Ladies aside, the returning gang for Fast & Furious 8 would include Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel and possibly Jason Statham. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Statham talked about his excitement about being part of the Fast and Furious family and revealed his involvement in the upcoming movie.
He said, "I'm a newcomer, y'know, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it's nice to know I'm going to be doing another." He did stay tight-lipped when asked on further plot details.
Fast & Furious 8 is the latest film in the Fast & Furious franchise and is set for release on April 14, 2017. Its prequel, Furious 7, premiered last April 3, 2015 in the United States and became an instant commercial success with praises for its superb action sequences.
