George R.R. Martin has openly shared that he was upset on Emmy Awards. Even if Game of Thrones was nominated in a number of categories, the brilliant author was not happy about the rest of the results. There are few shows that he thought should be nominated but was not even acknowledged by the award-giving body. He added that the Academy moves in mysterious ways, and apparently this was not a compliment.
In his Not A Blog, George R.R. Martin shows his fans that he was not pleased with the outcome of Emmy Awards.
Based from the Winds of Winter's famous author, we are indeed living in 'The Golden Age of Television' and that there is really a tight competition for drama. However, while he is happy with some of the TV series that made it into the list, he knew that there were shows which did well but unfortunately, were not recognized. He is happy that Better Call Saul and the controversial Orange is the New Black has been called. But he was eyeing for more. He was expecting that Vikings and Outlander, among many others, will be included. And as honest as he is, George R.R. Martin said that the Academy 'moves in mysterious ways'.
According to Carter Matt, it is not only the Winds of Winter author who was disappointed, even the average fans were a bit dismayed. Hence, they question the process of nomination.
Game of Thrones might have a lot of nominations under its belt, but the acting skills of the cast did not surpass the criteria. Of course, this didn't sit well with George R.R. Martin. But he was honest that he is being greedy for wanting so much for the cast and probably producers from other shows are thinking the same thing.
