'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' is nearing its release date and actor Patrick Wilson teased waiting fans with the first look at the filming set with a creepy photo, confirming that the follow-up of the mainstream box office hit 'The Conjuring' was really happening. Director James Wan also plans to take on another big horror project after this.
According to Screen Crush, Wilson, who jumped back on board to play Ed Warren for a second time, revealed the reality of the beginnings of the horror project when he posted a photo of himself and co-actor Vera Farmiga in front of a building that said 'New England Paranormal Research Center'. This was posted in his personal Twitter account also tagging Farmiga and returning director James Wan in it.
With Wan's return to his famous horror roots, he also held a casting call in search of four children to play supporting roles in the upcoming movie. According to List Film, the production team recently looked for four actors between the ages 8-14 years old with 'no previous acting experience required'.
These roles were for Janet Hodgson, who is reported to be the focus of the hauntings, and siblings Margaret, Billy, and Johnny. The casting call offered a generous hint as to what to expect in the sequel.
This may not be the last of Wan's horror-genre film projects. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will be co-producing a remake of the 1980s spooky cult classic 'The Entity'. Much like his 'The Conjuring' series, this is based on a true story. Chad and Carey Hayes, the masters behind the script for 'The Conjuring', will be on board to write the remake as well.
'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' aims for a June 10, 2016 release date. It is directed by Wan, the same horror-genre film master who brought audiences 'Saw' and 'Insidious'. The upcoming film promises another hair-raising supernatural horror flick based on the real cases of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Wilson and Farmiga respectively.
In real life, the Warrens founded the New England Society for Psychic research and claimed to have investigated over 10,000 haunting cases over the course of their career.
After the substantial box office success of 'The Conjuring', production company New Line Cinema immediately announced that a sequel will hit the big screens soon enough. 'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Potergeist was originally set for a 2015 premiere but was pushed back to 2016.
