A new Han Solo standalone film is in the works, and will be directed by The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street directors. Casting rumors have surfaced that Need for Speed actor Aaron Paul might star in the upcoming movie.
A new film is set to be released in the big screen about the smuggler-turned-hero character in the Star Wars universe, Han Solo. It is said to be currently being worked on by The Lego Movie directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord who also admitted to be big fans of the franchise.
According to Miller and Lord, the movie is a dream come true for them. "This is the first film we've worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us.
This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you're late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you've loved since before you can remember having dreams at all," the duo said in a statement.
Aside from directing, Miller and Lord are also set to write and produce the film. Writer Lawrence Kasdan, along with his son Jon Kasdan have also been hired to write the movie's script.
While the yet untitled and currently referred to as the Han Solo standalone film is still in its early stages of production, casting rumors have started swirling. Rumor mill has it that Need for Speed actor Aaron Paul might be involved with the film after he posted a photo on Instagram of a screenshot of the official Star Wars Twitter page, with the words 'Follows you' on the side. "My dreams are coming true.
They started following me. #StarWars" Paul captioned in the photo. According to reports the official Star Wars page only follows more than 300 people in their Twitter account, and almost all of them said to have either appeared or voiced a character in the franchise.
This rumors however, have not been confirmed nor denied yet. Details are pretty scarce as of now for the upcoming film, although it had been slated for release on May 25, 2018. More details about the upcoming Han Solo standalone film are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
