After some of the original Vikings cast members have left the series, the show has welcomed new actors to play a part in Vikings season four. The three who have officially joined Vikings lineup are Dianne Doan, Jasper Paakkonen, and Peter Franzen. In addition, another actor will be making a comeback as it has been reported that Kevin Durand will be reprising his role as Harbard for season four. Meanwhile, season four spoilers have certainly made fans quite excited especially after the Vikings crew took to their San Diego Comic Con panel to reveal what they have in store for season four.
Kevin Durand's announcement to return to the show during their Comic Con panel has certainly made everyone excited. Knowing his character Harbard, Durand said that fans can expect him to be bring more chaos into the series as this season has been known to be quite intense due to the various rising conflicts that have been set to happen in season four. In line with this, according to Vine Report, the new cast members Paakkonen and Franzen will become rivals the newest rivals against Ragnar as they will have to portray the roles of fearsome Scandinavian warriors. As for Ragnar, Travis Fimmel has also announced during the panel that his character is in for a romantic relationship plot this season.
A new added conflict for Vikings season 4 would be the exciting showdown between King Rognvaldsson Rollo (played by Clive Standen) and King Ragnar. Vikings season four will showcase a more imposing Rollo as he goes against his older brother Ragnar according to Master Herald. However, aside from his brother, Rollo also has to face his nephew Bjorn (played by Alexander Ludwig), the son of Ragnar. After the first wave siege, Ragnar becomes week and thus Bjorn has to deal with becoming the Norse people's new leader. The stress he undergoes plus the hurt he feels after his uncle Rollo's betrayal will certainly be a catalyst for his character to go against Rollo in season four.
iDigital Times also reported on how the series showrunner Michael Hirst have dropped hints on the various relationships that could either be formed or broken in the new season. As it was revealed during the Comic Con panel, the death of Athelstan (played by George Blagden) in the hands of Floki (played by Gustaf Skarsgard) will definitely affect Ragnar's perception of trust as he is very close to Athelstan and that now he is gone, Ragnar will feel more alone than ever.
There have been no announcements regarding Vikings Season 4's premiere date however, it has been said that it will be returning to the History Channel early next year.
