Whether Rookie Blue will be renewed for Season 7 will depend on the show's performance on ABC in the United States. The police drama is already airing its season finale on Global TV Canada. However, the ABC series is just about midway through with Season 6 Episode 6 coming up.
Global TV Canada may or may not grant the series a renewal depending on the international performance and revenue of the series, reports Seriable. Outgoing Executive Producer Tassie Cameron revealed that if Season 7 does happen, the new showrunner will be Sherry White.
"Sherry's been involved with the show since the very beginning, and in some ways she has very much been the beating heart of the Sam and Andy romance. She's very, very invested in that and passionate about it and knows the show. There are a number of writers who have been on since the beginning and they all know the show as well as anyone, but the tone of the show is so very Sherry. It has been affected by her all the way through and just seemed like a natural fit," Cameron earlier shared to Hollywood Reporter.
Series creator Cameron leaves the show after running 74 episodes.
The season finale in Canada will have lead star Missy Peregrym, who plays Officer Andy McNally, in a wedding event with beau Ben Bass who plays Sam Swarek.
TV.com lists the synopsis for the upcoming Episode 6 in the United States titled "Home Run" indicating a drive-by shooting of a baseball game where 15 Division police officers are playing. The 6th installment of the 11-episode season also has Sam planning a getaway with Andy at Oliver's cabin, "which goes off the rails in every possible way - except one."
Rookie Blue stars Peregrym, Bass, Gregory Smith, Charlotte Sullivan, Travis Milne, Peter Mooney, Priscilla Faia, Enuka Okuma, and Matt Gordon.
