Blue Bloods Season 6 has finally been confirmed by CBS as returning back to television this October.
The CBS Fall Preview released the listing of shows scheduled for airing in the fall that included Blue Bloods. The Tom Selleck-starrer returns to its timeslot at 10pm Friday nights.
The announcement was made within two weeks of the show's airing of its Season 5 finale episode. Ratings reports indicate the episode made a sweep of its time period and received a 10 percent viewership gain in its ratings. The procedural crime drama was also assessed as Friday's most watched program with 9 to 11 million viewers tuning in every Friday.
The Blue Bloods Season 5 finale which led the ratings in the 10pm slot featured a member of the Reagan clan tracking down the gang member who shot family member Linda. Danny employs creative methods to capture the fugitive instead of exacting revenge. Linda survives the shooting, giving a high note to the end of the two-part season ender.
Rumors about the cancellation of the series arose after CBS kept silent on the fate of the show even after the end of its 5th season.
The eventual renewal was announced on the Blue Bloods social media accounts. Fans praised the news saying Friday nights would remain to be the best nights on television with the definite return of the police drama.
Blue Bloods is a drama involving a multi-generational family of cops in the New York Police Department. Frank Reagan is the New York Police Commissioner and head of the Reagan clan.
Blue Bloods Season 6 stars Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan-Boyle, Will Estes as Jamie Reagan, Len Cariou as Henry Reagan, Amy Carlson as Linda Reagan, Sami Gayle as Nicky Reagan, Marisa Ramirez as Det. Maria Baez, and Vanessa Ray as Eddie.
