Avril Lavigne performs for the first time after battling with Lyme disease in Special Olympics; buys new house with Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne has been diagnosed with Lyme disease in December 2013, where she admitted that she suffered so much in fact she was bedridden during the most critical stage of her life. Even before she has recovered from the life-threatening illness, she promised to participate in the Special Olympics World Games, also known as the Paralympics.

The 30-year old pop punk star wore a sparkling black gown when she opened for the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, California. Avril Lavigne performed for the first time in the special event where she sung her latest singles 'Fly' which was released in 2014. Lavigne suffered from Lyme disease, an illness where a bacteria is being transmitted by ticks to humans.

On Lavigne's recent post on her Instagram, she wrote "Honored to have performed my song Fly at the opening ceremony for the Special Olympics tonight." She also said that all proceeds would go directly to the Special Olympics for additional support.

According to People, First Lady Michelle Obama gave the opening remarks for the games, where 25 sports will be vied by thousands of people with intellectual disabilities. Present in the event were Maria Shriver and Stevie Wonder.

Meanwhile, Avril must be planning on having a family with husband Chad Kroeger, Nickelback frontman as they have bought a mansion that is way too big for the couple. Located in Sherman Oaks, California, the estate has 7,888 square feet and was built in 1980s, according to Variety. Lavigne and Kroeger spent $5.4 million buying the 6-bedroom house, with a style of faux-chateau.

It's quite not unknown that Mrs. Kroeger had bought some high class mansions, which she had sold after some time. Once she sold her house when she divorced her first husband, Deryck Whibley. Another house of Lavigne was sold also to an NBA star.
