It looks like Outlander Season 2 will prove to be quite the challenging season for Caitriona Balfe's character, the series protagonist nurse Claire Beauchamp Randall. After it was revealed back in season one that she has become pregnant with Jamie MacKenzie Fraser's child, Claire now has to come up with a way to deal with her husband Frank Randall as well as her past as the new season is said to shed more light on her parents' death.
Actress Caitriona Balfe revealed during an interview for Movie News Guide regarding what her character will have to go through for Outlander season 2. Balfe mentioned how Claire's pregnancy will certainly take a toll on her as she has to deal with her actual husband from the present Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies). This would then lead to more heartbreaking scenes with Frank in the new season as Balfe hints that Claire would quite possibly be facing her husband regarding Jamie MacKenzie Fraser (Sam Heughan).
Sam Heughan, on the other hand, further revealed what the couple for the new season will have to face as they live their new lives in France. According to Youth Health Magazine's report on the Outlander's San Diego Comic Con panel, there will be some adjustments that their characters Jamie and Claire will have to face including some brewing political problems in France. Balfe, on the other hand, also spoils fans on how their varying time periods would greatly have an effect in their parenting perspectives. However, she assures them that the couple will find a way to raise their child well in the Outlander season two.
Filming for the new season is underway and since this season will focus more on a French setting, new actors have been welcome to the Outlander cast. Yareah Magazine has announced the new additions to the series to be the following: Dominique Pinon (Master Raymond), Romann Berrux (Fergus), Andrew Gower (Bonnie Prince Charlie), and Claire Sermonne (Louise de Rohan).
Outlander season 2 is set to premiere this 2016.
