The sci-fi television series The Whispers Season 1 which composed of 13 episodes, is concluding soon and a Season 2 is unlikely to happen. With just four more episodes to air till the end of Season 1, ABC has not confirmed the sequel to the series and is reportedly uncertain about the fate of the show.
According to Deadline Hollywood, ABC has not yet renewed the contracts of the cast for the second season. The contracts expired last 30 June, and some of the actors were offered lead roles in different shows. With Season 2 still under deliberation, the network is also said to consider revamping its set of cast as part of the plot dynamics. Plus, the producers at the moment cannot financially accommodate full time actors for Season 2, due to the fact that the show has low ratings according to TV Series Finale. The show has to redeem itself with its remaining episodes.
It was also disclosed earlier in Deadline Hollywood, that the cast were quite unhappy when shooting was moved from original location in Los Angeles to Vancouver after the pilot episode aired. The relocation was said to make star Lily Rabe decide to permanently exit the series, but the network mentioned they are working out on limited appearances of Claire in Season 2 with the actress, if the series will continue.
On the eleventh episode "Homesick" as FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan, together with husband Sean Bennigan, and Wes Lawrence, set a trap to deplete Drill's power source. Children contacted by Drill started succumbing to sickness as Drill gets weaker. Wes risks the only possible chance to defeat Drill and convinces the President to gather all children in a safe zone.
The Whispers Episode 11 entitled "Homesick" is written by Alison Tatlock (In Treatment, 2008) and Michael Russell Gunn (The Newsroom, 2012), directed by Ken Fink, and created by Soo Hugh (Juno, 2007). The show airs on Monday, 17 August,10:01 to 11:00 pm, ET on ABC Television Network.
