The first closed beta of Street Fighter 5 for PS4 that went online on July 23 has never kicked off the way Capcom may have wanted as it was plagued with performance and connectivity problems that the developer had to postpone the planned beta until further notice.
Reports say that Capcom previously took the beta offline so as to attempt addressing those issues and promised to extend the duration of the beta, however, the problems continue to persist.
"Capcom offers its sincerest apologies to everyone who participated in this first beta test...After three days of testing, while we were making progress and collecting valuable data, we felt the majority of players were not having a good experience, and the best course of action would be to take the servers offline for extended maintenance," Capcom writes on its official blog.
"We will be postponing our first beta phase until we believe the experience is going to be a positive one for players...While the purpose of a beta is to work out these type of issues, it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for," stated Capcom.
An access to the Street Fighter 5 beta was given as an incentive for those who have pre-ordered for the PS4 and PC versions. The beta also includes an access to six characters which is scheduled to run for five days. And as means of apology, it is reported that Capcom plans on giving in-game incentives for gamers who signed up for the beta. However, there are no details yet about the incentive that will be afforded to the players.
Street Fighter 5 is developed exclusively for PS4 and PC via strategic partnership between Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Capcom with cross-platform play between both systems.
Street Fighter 5 will have a simultaneous worldwide release in spring season of 2016 and it is promised that no regions will be late where everyone will be able to play the game at the same time.
