It seems that Samsung is going after Apple's tablet market share as it officially announced the company's newest Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. The forthcoming Samsung device was reportedly set to release this August.
The new Galaxy Tab S2 was reported to come up in two sizes, a larger 9.7-inch slate and the smaller 8-inch Tab S2. As stated by JK Shin, president of Samsung Mobile, "The Galaxy Tab S2 is not only our thinnest and lightest tablet of its size ever, it also gives users quick, easy access to a wealth of superior viewing and productivity features."
Speaking of its weight, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7-inch model (Wi-Fi only)/392g (Wi-Fi & LTE) weighs 389g while the smaller 8-inch version and (Wi-Fi only)/ 272g (Wi-Fi & LTE) weighs 265g. These make the two devices significantly lighter than their iPad opponents.
The latest Samsung device has stuck with its preferred Super AMOLED technology, but both models have plunged in terms of screen size and so has the resolution, from 2560 x 1600 to 2048 x 1536.
In terms of its camera, the pcadvisor claims that both variants of Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 device will have an 8Mp rear camera and 2.1Mp front camera. The site also included the 11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GNSS and optional 4G LTE as more its specs. It was also reported to come available in either 32- or 64GB storage capacities with 3GB of RAM. A Micro-SD card slot which can take up to 128GB is also featured in these two tablets as well.
The Samsung Galaxy tab S2 will reportedly run on Android 5.0 and will have a 5870mAh battery for the 9.7-inch model and a 4000mAh for the 8-inch tablet.
Both of the Galaxy Tab S2 was reported to be powered by Samsung's own processor Exynos 5433 (four 1.9GHz Cortex A57 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex A53 cores) and a Mali T760MP6 GPU.The Phonearena reports that on the 4th of August the two Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will go on sale in Hong Kong.
The rating for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 works out to the equivalent of $501 USD in Hong Kong, for the Wi-Fi version in the region and the 4G LTE model will cost $630. For the Wi-Fi model the smaller Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will cost $398 and $527 for the 4G LTE variant.
