Kate Beckinsale and Theo James are set to reprise their roles in Underworld 5. The upcoming movie is said to give more focus to James' character, as the war between the vampires and the werewolves continue. Filming is set to begin this year, however, speculations suggest that it might not be released next year.

According to a report by Kpopstarz, the movie will see the return of Kate Beckinsale as the Selene, after having a short appearance in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Aside from Beckinsale, Theo James who plays the role of vampire, David, will also return for the sequel. According to the report, James' David will also be the central character in the upcoming movie.

The movie is also said to focus on the seemingly never-ending battle between the Lycans and the vampires. This time, the battle will reportedly be continued by the next generation from the two mystical races.

According to Movie Pilot, the sequel will soon be filmed on October this year, in Czech Republic, Prague. It might also be reportedly released in theaters in 2016, however, given the work that will be needed for the post-production and special effects, rumors suggest that a 2017 release might be more likely.

According to previous reports, the movie will be the directorial debut of Anna J. Foerster who also previously worked in the show Criminal Minds and director of photography in the movie White House Down. Cory Goodman is also reportedly working on the movie's script, while Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg are set to produce the film.

Underworld 5 will be the latest instalment in the franchise that started in Underworld (2003), followed by Underworld: Revolution (2006), Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009), and Underworld: Awakening (2012). More details about the upcoming movie are expected to be released in the coming months.
