After a big following of faith-based crowd for "Heaven is for Real," Sony Pictures slated "Miracles From Heaven" for release in 2016. It is the same time it released "Heaven Is For Real" last year which is one week before the Easter holiday.
The success of "Heaven Is for Real," took in more than $100 million worldwide and became one of the biggest faith-based hits of all time. Following this, Sony Pictures is gearing up its next Christian-focused drama, "Miracles From Heaven." Written for film by Randy Brown, this is an adaptation of the memoir of the same title by Christy Beam.
Filming of "Miracles From Heaven" began on the first week of July around Atlanta, Georgia. "Alias" star Jennifer Garner was photographed filming scenes as part of her leading role while on the set.
The 43 year old actress Jennifer Garner who may be going through a tumultuous time in her personal life, yet showed she is the consummate professional as she was seen beaming while working on her latest project. Garner was recently spotted sharing a laugh with co-star Queen Latifah as she filmed a car scene on Sunday (August 2).
Cast also includes the newcomer Kylie Rogers, Martin Henderson (Grey's Anatomy), John Carroll Lynch (Ted 2) and Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included). Derbez will play an eminent but simpatico U.S.-based Mexican gastroenterologist-pediatrician, who plays games with his child patients to lighten their experience of hospital treatment. The character is inspired by Boston Children's Hospital specialist Dr. Samuel Nurko.
A true story of the Beam family, whose 10-year-old daughter, Anna (Kylie Rogers), is diagnosed with a rare life-threatening disease that tests their family and everyone's faith. As they meet with doctor after doctor to find a cure, or at least offer some respite from Anna's severe symptoms, it is not until she has a near death experience that a miracle happens that changes their lives forever.
Patricia Riggen is directing with "Heaven Is for Real" producers Joe Roth, Devon Franklin and T.D. Jakes producing. Riggen previously directed "Under the Same Moon" and telefilm "Lemonade Mouth." The film is scheduled for release on March 18, 2016, a week before the Easter holiday.
