Sherlock fans will have to wait a little longer as the contemporary crime drama television series Sherlock returns for Season 4 set on the first quarter of 2017. However, the brilliant Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his doctor partner Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) will travel back in time during the Victorian Era in Sherlock Special which will air this Christmas.
In the special Sherlock episode, Sherlock will be more refined, in contrast to the modern day Sherlock while Dr. Watson will be more cautious according to showrunner Steven Moffat, Entertainment Weekly reported. A sneak peek of the Sherlock Special is also starting to create hype online.
Moffat added that the Victorian Special of Sherlock is the opportunity for them to make the show "creepier and scarier." In addition to the fright effect, women characters will also have a voice at the Sherlock Special, something that lacks in the original story.
Fans are starting to ask how Sherlock Season 4 will be. Moffat assures fans that Sherlock will return for a "devastating" fourth season. Shooting will start in March of 2016. As for the Sherlock Season 4 premiere date, nothing has been confirmed yet.
For a rundown of spoilers from iDigital Times for Sherlock Season, Watson will become a father, Irene Adler (Lara Pulver) might join the cast in the next season, Janine (Yasmine Akram) will continue to be Sherlock's good friend, and Molly might or might not become Sherlock's girlfriend. Showrunners of the Sherlock Holmes series promises a Season 4 that is darker, and will deviate a little from the usual comical Sherlock in the past seasons. As for the setting, it will be in the contemporary London. Character wise, Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington) may die, if the writers will stay true to the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's originals.
