‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Update: Official Synopsis Reveals Prelude To The Zombie Apocalypse Before ‘The Walking Dead’

By

"Fear The Walking Dead" acts as zombie apocalypse prelude to "The Walking Dead's" dystopic zombie destruction setting. The AMC's newest series is a spinoff of the "TWD" but fans could get a glimpse of what life was before the catastrophe happened.

The show, which was created Robert Kirkman who is actually the same person behind The Walking Dead, will be totally different from the older series. Fear the Walking Dead will center around the lives of everyday people from Los Angeles as they try to cope with the beginning of an apocalypse. The series' main character Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) is a high school guidance counselor and single mother to teenagers Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane). Madison is engaged to Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) who is a high school English teacher. Aside from how their family deals with an impending apocalypse, they also try to cope with the various problems they have within their family particularly regarding the typical issues the two teenagers face as young adolescents.

During last July's 2015 San Diego Comic Con, AMC revealed an intriguing trailer and a quick look at the pilot episode that teased the fans regarding Fear the Walking Dead. The sneak peek revealed how the first few episodes would establish a sense of confusion within the community as Madison encounters firsthand the creepy symptoms brought by the deadly zombie virus.

The trailer for Fear the Walking Dead further gives the audience a sense of anticipation to be projected vicariously through the characters as they try to figure out what is happening in their city and how they can fully acknowledge it as something truly dangerous. Unlike The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead really takes away from the chaos of the zombie apocalypse and creates a 'calm before the storm' mood that is both thrilling and intriguing.

Variety has reported that Fear the Walking Dead will most probably begin at a much slower pace compared to The Walking Dead since it will most likely focus on the development of the characters and the community that they live in and how these factors will soon play out once the panic and hysteria of an apocalypse arrives in Los Angeles.

Unlike The Walking Dead, the new series will very much highlight how average the lives of the characters are. Cliff Curtis even remarked how much he admired the very ordinary traits that his character Travis Manawa possesses in the series. Meanwhile, Dickens commented on the character's backstories and mentioned how she appreciate the way the story of Fear the Walking Dead explores the characters' various flaws as human beings.

Fear the Walking Dead will premiere their pilot episode this August 23.
