Alien 5 is in the works and rumored to pick up where the events of James Cameron's 1986 film, Aliens, left off. Neill Blomkamp is currently hard at work in his studio as revealed in a recent photo he shared on Instagram.
The fifth installment to the Alien franchise, that Ridley Scott started in 1979 is in the works and is set to hit theaters in 2017. Reports suggest that it will continue the events from 1986 film, Aliens, while ignoring the events that transpired in Alien 3 and Alien resurrection.
"My favorites are the first two movies, so I want to make a film that's connected to 'Alien' and 'Aliens'. That's my goal. I'm not trying to undo 'Alien 3′ or 'Alien: Resurrection.' I just want it to be connected to 'Alien 1′ and '2'." Director Neill Blomkamp said as reported by Screenrant.
While it sure is a big challenge, Alien 5's director, Neill Blomkamp showed that he's taking the next instalment seriously and posted a photo of his 'Alien Room'. As reported by /Film, the room has a chair situated in front of 4 flatscreen televisions, and walls with black and white photos, along with a power loader toy, that can also be seen in the photo.
The upcoming sequel will see the return of Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley while rumor mill has it that Michael Biehn might also reprise his role as Corporal Dwayne Hicks, after Blomkamp released his concept art for the movie, as reported by The Independent.
In Blomkamp's concept art, Weaver's Ellen Ripley can be seen standing next to Biehn's Corporal Hicks, and standing in front of them is a soldier with the image of the South Korean flag on its shoulder.
Although it has not been confirmed yet, Corporal Hicks return is said to likely happen after he repeatedly appeared in Blomkamp's concept art. More details about Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 are expected to be revealed as production progress. No exact release date has been released yet, but IMDB listed the movie's release in 2017.
