David Beckham defended his parenting skills from British newspaper Daily Mail. The news paper published a report criticizing Beckham for letting his 4-year old daughter use a pacifier. The English Football Star retorted that he did so because his child was sick.
On Monday, David Beckham posted on Instagram a part of the Daily Mail article saying, "Why do people feel they have the right to criticize a parent about their own children without having any facts ??". He went on to say that all parents know that when their children are not feeling well, they naturally give them what would make them comfortable, which most of the time is a pacifier. He ended his statement by saying that other people should think twice before judging him as a parent.
Beckham's post garnered more than 500,000 likes and more than 17,000 comments which were mostly fans who sided with him and expressed support.
Gossip Cop reports, the news article that was published on Sunday and written by showbiz reporter Jemma Buckley had a candid picture of Beckham with his daughter Harper by his side who had a pacifier in her mouth. It wrote that Harper was old for her age to be using a pacifier quoting experts as saying that pacifiers or dummies can cause speech or dental problems if used continuously.
A separate report from the Daily Mail adds that a child is not advised to use a pacifier after the age of one, based on the recommendation from the National Health Service (NHS). Doing so could damage a child's teeth.
David Beckham, who has four children with Spice Girl Victoria, was spotted happily walking around West Hollywood in California with Harper and his eldest son Brooklyn, 16 at the time the father and daughter's picture was taken. The celebrity couples has two other children Romeo, 12 and Cruz, 10.
