The rumors were completely shutdown by the singer and former X Factor judge's rep saying that the two are not dating and they are just platonic friends, according to Perez Hilton.
The Sun first reported about Ed and Nicole dating rumors stating that the singers have been dating for some months already. The site claimed that a budding secret romance is to be expected after Nicole has been sighted spending night outs with "The Voice" mentor in clubs.
"After meeting up in London, Ed took the former X Factor judge for a date to his home town in Suffolk," the site reported.
"He has since written lyrics for Nicole, while she has dedicated performances to him on stage at private gigs."
Ed girlfriend rumors blew up when the site claimed that Ed's close pal stated that the two singers were in early stages of dating. Ed was apparently open about the budding romance with Nicole to his friends. An insider close to Nicole also stated that the 37-year-old Pussycat Doll singer claimed that he's exactly the female version of her.
According to Telegraph, Nicole started to fall for the 24-year-old crooner after thanking him that his music had helped her move on from her former love, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.
Nicole dated F1 race champ Hamilton since 2007. The two split early this year claiming the sportsman wasn't ready yet to settle down. Nicole was "heartbroken and devastated" while Hamilton claimed that he was pressured to marry Nicole. Ed on the other hand dated British singer Elli Goulding.
