Kelly Rutherford has been fighting a long term battle to get full custody of her two minor children. The actress who shares custody of her kids with her German ex-husband has been battling to get her son and daughter over to America for good. Though she has been allowed by the court to have her children during the summer holiday, when it came for them to go home this year, she refused.
In a report from People, the 46-year-old actress is now facing the consequences after taking the law into her own hands by not returning her children last Friday to Monaco where they were supposed to fly home to their father.
Rutherford will now have to face the court with her children present after her ex husband, Daniel Giersh accused her of abduction. According to the Mirror UK, Rutherford will have to bring her children with her to court on Tuesday at Manhattan Supreme Court after she failed to follow an order which stated her children should be retuned on the 7th of August.
The order was mandated in Monaco, where the two children having been staying with their dad since 2012 after Giersh was granted temporary custody over the young minors.
ABC News reported that in an interview with Kelly Rutherford, she stated, "I am a mother first, from the beginning I have said I will fight for my children." It was during the weekend after the 7th when son Hermes 8, and daughter Helena 6, were due to go home that Rutherford released a statement saying, "I have decided that I cannot lawfully send my children away from the United States to live in a foreign country."
Kelly Rutherford has already reached out to the U.S State of Department and has asked for help regarding her situation. For now, she has to face court and the accusations her ex husband is accusing her off.
Though Kelly Rutherford states she is doing only what she believes is best for her kids, after the risky stunt she pulled, reports are saying that she may be facing some serious consequences.
