'Independence Day: Resurgence' will feature Vivica A. Fox back again but not as a stripper. It was also reported that young co-stars Liam Hemsworth and Maika Monroe may possibly be dating.
According to Huffington Post, Fox is all set to reprise her role as Jasmine Dubrow-Hiller but her character will be working in a hospital as an administrator instead of a girly bar. In the 1996 film, Fox was an exotic dancer and single mother who was also Captain Steven Hiller's girlfriend. Hiller was played by Will Smith but it was reported that he will not be back for a second appearance.
In an article by A.V. Club, the sequel by director Roland Emmerich will take place 20 years after the events of the first. He said, "We call it in the film the War of '96.... It's like a post-World generation that's unified, and that's amazing to see a world come together with a common enemy. That's a resurgence." He talked about how humankind bands together to defend Earth against a new group of invaders.
'Independence Day: Resurgence' will feature returning cast including Fox, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Jeff Goldblum and will also star new faces such as Liam Hemsworth and Maika Monroe. The two young co-stars are currently the spotlight of dating rumors after an incident where they got a little too comfortable with each other in public.
In a report by US Magazine, Hemsworth and Monroe flirted heavily with each other during a Fourth of July party hosted by Emmerich. A source at the Hollywood event said, "Liam was draped all over her. It was so PDA and in-your-face!" Another source relayed that even though the two aren't official, they have the undeniable couple chemistry. Monroe will be playing Patricia, President Whitman's daughter, while Hemsworth will be playing her love interest Jake Morrison.
'Independence Day: Resurgence' is a follow-up sequel to the 1996 blockbuster hit 'Independence Day'. The first film grossed $817 million worldwide against a $75 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
