Olsen twins’ company sued by ex-intern for wage theft but says twins were “pleasant”

The Olsen twins are facing a case of wage theft after their licensing and manufacturing company was sued by a former intern. The ex-trainee however had something good to say about the celebrity twins despite the move that they had made.

Shahista Lalani, a former trainee of Dualstar Entertainment company owned by 29-year old twin sisters Mary Kate and Ashley, filed a class-suit against the company for being overworked without being paid. Business Insider reports, Lalani worked for the company in 2012.

According to Lalani, she worked 50 hours a week for 5 months under "The Row", the Olsen's fashion line, where her boss was its technical designer head. Lalani described her boss as very demanding that she was doing the work of what three interns could do. It included talking to her boss all day and night, doing e-mails in the evening in preparation for the following day, or carrying about 50 lbs of trench coats amidst a very hot day. What's worse is that her experience was never credited to her college subject.

Lalani never worked directly with the Olsen twins but has met them during meetings. She described them as pleasant and nice business people.

NY Daily News adds, the class suit meant that 40 more unpaid interns can join in the case filed. It read that Lalani and some interns were tasked to do tech sheets, encode data on spreadsheets, do personal errands of paid employees, photocopying, organizing materials, pattern cutting, sewing and others.

Dualstar meanwhile is confident that the case will be dismissed. CNBC reports, Dualstar has remained to be fair in treating people. It said that the accusations were groundless. Dualstar stressed that they are determined to defend their side in court and not in the media.

Meanwhile, no comment has yet been issued by the Olsen Twins regarding the issue.
